Am I Eligible?

Teacher Leader roles in Denver Public Schools are an opportunity to lead without leading the classroom. All roles are designed for excellent teachers to maximize their impact through the school in a leadership role, while simultaneously teaching a highly effective classroom. With this in mind, there are certain eligibility requirements in place. This page, organized by type of applicant, will guide you to determine if you are eligible to play for Team DPS in a teacher leader capacity next school year. TLC eligibility criteria for each TLC role.

CURRENT DPS TEACHERS

DPS teachers who had a teaching role in 2015-16

If you are a current teacher, you can find your eligibility in GHR using the process linked below. If you are a current teacher who is seeking a TLC role in a different school, you can follow the “DPS Employees Who Are Not Teachers” process to give principals across the district visibility into your interest in, and eligibility for, teacher leader roles.

Teachers who received a 2015-16 LEAP performance rating can find their eligibility status to apply for TLC roles by accessing GHR. To be eligible for 2017-18 roles, candidates must have a 2015-16 rating of Effective or Distinguished. If you already have a 2015-16 rating, your eligibility is automatically reported in GHR.

To have your eligibility assessed, email your most recent summative, end-of-year teacher evaluation to teacherleader@dpsk12.org. Alternately, if you would like principals across the district (in addition to applying to individual school-specific roles) to have visibility into your interest and eligibility, you are welcome to apply to the General Senior / Team Lead – Pooled posting.

DPS EMPLOYEES WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY TEACHING

Any DPS employee

DPS applicants who do not have a current teacher leader status of “eligible” in GHR must submit documentation to validate eligibility to apply for TLC roles. If you didn’t teach in DPS in 2015-16 or were not in a role that receives a LEAP rating, you will not have a current  status of “eligible” because there was no data to reference. All applicants need to provide proof of educator effectiveness to apply for a TLC role. This process applies to you if your TLC eligibility status in GHR says “insufficient data,” “not applicable,” or if eligibility status is left blank.

EXTERNAL TO DPS CANDIDATES

Any candidate who is not a current DPS employee of any kind

Candidates not currently employed by DPS in any capacity must provide documentation of their educator effectiveness.

To determine your eligibility to apply for TLC roles, follow the guidance below. In this process, you will be asked to submit…

  1. a) cover letter and resume (all roles)
    b) data performance task (Senior / Team Lead roles only)
  2. c) your most recent summative evaluation from your current/former school district. The evaluation must clearly display the school district, a summative effectiveness rating, and include multiple measures (i.e. your evaluation must include more components than just observations). (Senior / Team Lead roles only)

All candidates new to DPS will also need to participate in a General Teacher screening process, as classroom instruction is a vital component of all teacher leader roles.
