Teacher Leadership & Collaboration began as the Differentiated Roles pilot in 14 schools in the 2013-14 school year. Due to its success, TLC has expanded into 113 schools since that time and continues to grow. At a TLC school, teachers are organized around strong teams guided by a Senior/ Team Lead. Senior/Team Leads spend about half their time providing supports to teachers on their teams such as coaching, evaluation, collaborative planning and reviewing student work while continuing to work directly with students every day. The district wide goal is for all teachers to be organized into a team supported by a Team Lead by the 2019-2020 school year.
